[MEMORY LOG] Memories #43-#44 + #46-#49

C-C-CATCHUP.

Possessing a priestess and sniping at Ginshu and the inugami. [Chapter 9: pp. 8-15]

FROM: Mother's live chess game.
FORM: a black marble pawn.
SHAREABLE: 4/5

This is one of those early scenes that suddenly becomes COMPLETELY DIFFERENT when you go back and read it after getting Bonten and Ginshu's backstory. It's also unfortunately before the scanlators hit their stride, so there's some problems with the translation. But! Things to note. Despite the fact that it seems initially like Bonten appears just to be a smug bastard and taunt both Ginshu and the Inugami, there's a lot more to it. Not only does Bonten only step in when Ginshu is being threatened and actually serves to distract the Inugami from her, the most barbed of his comments actually comes after Toki steps in to protect Ginshu's doll: "What, that's boring. Even though I thought the Princess was finally going to be given peace..." In other words, he directly references the fact that Ginshu's curse is her inability to die, something that isn't actually revealed to the reader for another two volumes. Basically, the "dialogue" (I put it in quotation marks because Ginshu doesn't actually say a word to him throughout the scene) between Bonten and Ginshu in this scene is operating on a different level than everyone else involved thinks: it's a much more subtle commentary on the nature of their "game."

... basically in Aather, Viridian picks up on all of this, but his main reaction was more or less "wow we're both morons, let's never be in a situation like that again."

Explaining Heaven to Toki. [Chapter 24: pp. 6-15 + Chapter 33: pp. 4-9 ]

FROM: Chesh's cohabitation game (part two).
FORM: a small Emerald tin of sardines.
SHAREABLE: 7/8

This isn't really new to him, though it might be useful in its shareableness if he ever feels like explaining the Amatsuki to someone in Aather.

Escaping from the Ungaikyou chamber & more about Utsubushi. [Chapter 81; Volume 14: pp. 17-23]

FROM: Firebird's drank paintball game.
FORM: team-colored packet sherbert
SHAREABLE: no

Basically what it says on the tin. This is separated from the important bits that come right before and after it, so it's mostly just Toki, Hashita, and Utsubushi-bird talking.

Utsubushi being loud enough to disturb his nap.

FROM: Three's choice game.
FORM: a withered forget-me-not with four petals.
SHAREABLE: 3/4

I think this is just a random instance since I'm pretty sure he has the Napoleon memory back already.

Whoops Edo Castle is under attack. [Volume 12; Chapter 73: pp. 163-168]

FROM: Columbine's murder mystery game.
FORM: five little shortbread cookies in the shape of a comedy-drama mask.
SHAREABLE: 4/5

IT SURE IS.

Meeting up with Hizame's party and the abnormal village. [Chapter 87; Volume 14: pp. 162-172]

FROM: Maleficent's description game.
FORM: a tiny Emerald dessert cake.
SHAREABLE: no

Kanzou's missing, Toki thinks we're in Siren or Higurashi, no one in the party is non-suspicious, Ainezu plays innocent-traveling-doctor, and someone in the other room is talking about inugami.
